Abstract

The study aims at determining the level of the teachers’ legal awareness and their Attitude towards the law in the Sultanate of Oman, It also focuses on highlighting the differences that could be attributed to gender and number of years’ experience as well as knowledge of the legal relationship between their consciousness and their attitudes towards the law. The study adopted the descriptive approach in presenting the theoretical framework and the field work. The study sample comprises of (172) teachers. The test which was developed by (Mundhiri, 2011), was used to test their legal awareness It consists of (40) questions, and a questionnaire consisting of (45) items was used to measure their attitudes towards law. It included four domains: teachers’ conviction towards the law, their attitudes towards comprehending it, the application of the law, and towards employee who enforce it. The results indicate that the level of legal awareness was low, and that attitude towards law in all domains was positive, except for the second domain, where it was neutral. The gender and experience variables have their statistically significant impact, except the fourth domain; where the females response is higher than males. As for the relationship between consciousness and the attitudes towards the law, there was non-statistically significant impact, except for the legal relationship between the awareness of the law and the attitude towards law enforcement, where the correlation is negative in terms of male respond.
