Abstract

This study aimed to explore the stress among the bachelor of nursing students, and to determine the related
coping strategies, the nature of the relationship between the coping methods with academic stressors. A random
sample of (109) male and female nursing students were selected from College of Nursing at Sultan Qaboos
University. The stressors scale consisted of 35 items. The coping strategies scale to academic stressors consisted of
66 items that were distributed on eight strategies. Results showed the existence of 12 pressures to nursing students,
including: the lack of time for recreation activities, fatigue after fulfilling college requirements so that no energy is
left for studying and lack of time to complete continuing academic homework requirements. Most prominent coping
methods were: developing a plan to solve the problem, stay away from the problem and confrontation. There was a
positive significant relationship between the academic pressures and the methods of confrontation and means of
staying away from the problem, as well as with methods of coping in general.
