The Teachers Awareness of Copyright and Scientific Thefts of Work: Scientific Periodical as an Example

Abstract

The research aims to identify the faculty members awareness of the copy rights, and which one they know, also their knowledge of the kinds of scientific thefts, and which one they encounter. The research used the survey method and depend on the questionnaire that had been distributed among the faculty members who frequently attend the central library of Baghdad university in addition to the interview with the editor of Almustansirya arts magazine, the research lead to the following conclusionsthe first of which most of faculty members are aware of the copy rights, their rate is 74% which means that their awareness is positive, the second of which there are differences in the knowledge of copyrights among the faculty members, the highest rate for the researcher (has the right to withdraw his research from circulation in case of any literary reasons accured) reached to 63% and the lowest for (confiscating the copies of the theft and the punishment of reprimand and depriving the person of scientific promotion for two years). Their response ranged from 56% to 57%.and the third of which most of faculty members have no idea of the kinds of scientific thefts which my encounter them in different stages of their research the most important suggestion in this research the first it isIncrease the faculty members awareness of copyrights through researches and studies related to this subject and the second it isAware the faculty members to the kinds of scientific thefts which may face them during their scientific research through helding lectures and seminars about intellectual property right .
