Abstract

Modern communication technologies have made successive changes in society and in reshaping the pattern of life of its members in their relationship with their surroundings. The interest of studies and research has increased in recent years in explaining these phenomena related to the individual's relationship with modern means of communication, given that owning these modern technical means does not mean their proper use or use in an optimal manner, as societal, cultural and psychological contexts may affect the patterns of use. From these perspectives, this study came to examine how users interact with the concept of art intellectual property. The choice of the principle of digital intellectual property is due to the importance and fundamental pillar it represents for building societies. The interest in protecting intellectual property has increased with the spread of the Internet, due to the space provided by cyberspace, which has deepened and facilitated the infringement of these art ownership rights.
reviewing importance of the role of the media as an influential authority on art knowledge, this study deals with the role of the media in promoting the protection of art works intellectual property in the digital environment. The basic idea of this research is to monitor the representations of Saudi journalists, as users of the digital space, of the concept of intellectual property in their relationship to technical tools and the role of the media in curbing these art works abuses and contributing to the establishment of art intellectual property rights of individuals when they use the digital space .
The study reached a set of conclusions that summarize that the journalists' uses of modern technology stem from their knowledge and cultural values, given that the principle of intellectual property falls within these values and knowledge, as they derive their uses from the artistic cultural and social dimensions. The study also concluded by showing the extent of Saudi journalists ’commitment to the principle of intellectual property. Their representations of this principle were positive and aware of its importance and the dangers that modern technology could pose. It also shows their awareness of the role of the media in promoting these art ownership concepts, considering that the media is an effective means in society to consecrate and enhance a set of cultural and social values .
